Eclectic Collective just premiered the new single ‘Peaked’ by UK’s Ruane Maurice — a band which the BBC describes as “awesome experimental hip-hop” and that Obscure Sound hails as “one of the most originally intoxicating hip-hop hybrids you’ll hear this year”.
A brooding, introspective, and avante-garde take on hip hop, ‘Peaked’ is the third and final single from their upcoming debut album Ruane Maurice. Their first single ‘Nomenclature’ premiered in June via Noisey, and last month PopMatters premiered their second single ‘Farne’. A BBC live-to-air is currently in the works and the band will be touring the UK from September to November. Ruane Maurice releases next Tuesday, Sep 9th, via Brooklyn’s Stars & Letters Records.
“Despite the fact that the band is in their early twenties, Ruane Maurice’s gloomy hip hop appears totally adult, with the guys taking on the responsibility of leading UK hip hop into a new musical future.” — Eclectic Collective
