Well this has been a very exciting week for Shocking Pinks and our label, to say the least! Not only did Pitchfork Advance premiere the Guilt Mirrors stream and Noisey posted Nick Harte’s OkCupid dating profile, but many other outlets did cool features and interviews on Nick’s new record:
SPIN features Guilt Mirrors as one of 10 albums you’ve got to stream this week, describing Nick’s music as “dance-punk and dream-pop, acoustic confessionals and vintage-indie droners.” All Music, too, shares the Pitchfork Advance.
Consequence of Sound calls “Not Gambling”, the lead single off of Guilt Mirrors, “a lo-fi dance-pop anthem.”
Steregum shares the Pitchfork Advance album stream and points out it’s either “feast or famine with Shocking Pinks.”
Fresh off this year’s Camp A Low Hum stage, Nick Hart tells Radio New Zealand National about Guilt Mirrors, which took six years to percolate.
Russel Brown shares three Shocking Pinks singles on his NZ-legendary Public Address blog, “Hard News”.
New Zealand staples, Under The Radar and The Corner, both share the Pitchfork Advance with their readers.
The new Shocking Pinks record is a bit too dark and angry for NOW Magazine‘s taste, but they love the track “Motel” and still give the record 3/5 stars.
On the other hand, VICE gives Guilt Mirrors a rave review, even inspiring the writer to clean his room and txt his girlfriend how much he loves her.
